Abstract
This research essay is the first project to recover the life and work of marjorie Kisbey Hicks, examining her role as a music teacher and composer. Interdisciplinary in approach, this research essay positions Kisbey Hicks’ life and musical career within contemporary historical and social contexts, through the use of historical methodologies, music history and theory. Kisbey Hicks’ involvement in Saskatchewan musical organizations and the musical life of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, is highlighted through a review of accessible correspondence, and analysis of selected songs and interviews.
